The perfect pair of ANC headphones has a shame

At first glance, you cannot notice all the purification that Soni did to XM6. But I assure you, they all add a more comfortable and polish pair of headphones. The leatherrt over-ear cup makes a good passive noise-edge seal, the headband is wider for better weight distribution on your dome, and Sony is very good to listen to the response and made them foldable again. Even small touch like a large power button that is easy to press is worth appreciating.

Sony has saved it slightly with normal black, silver and midnight blue colorway, but is expected to roll more interesting colors under the line.

It is not difficult to connect XM6 to your smartphone or laptop. The minute you open the magnetic hard case involved, you will find a pairing prompt on your phone, which you walk through the headphone through Bluetooth, and then you are ready to go. The initial coupling process takes less than three minutes, but I still want it to be faster, as if it is mostly on modern wireless earbuds.

Run your card properly, and you rarely have to touch your phone. Unlike AirPods Max, you can control the audio from the touch-sensitive surface on the right ear cup using taps and swipes. A double tap plays and gives audio or answer and rejects the call, while forward or backward swipes switch to the next and previous tracks respectively. Swipe up or down adjusts the volume, while holding your hand on the earcup attracts quick attention, which stops the audio until you remove your hand. And if you do not feel like touching the headphone, you can shake your head or shake it to answer or reject the phone call.

The NC/Amb button (noise cancellation and ambient noise mode) also draws double duty. Press it twice to access the chosen app (Amazon Music, Spotify or Endel). You can program a second app to launch with three taps, but you will need a Sony Sound Connect app (first called Headphone Connect) to configure it.

When I talk about noise-making technology, I always waver between Bose and Sony. Right now, Sony has taken a noticeable lead. In search of silence, or at least a cool atmosphere, Sony has brought its new QN3 processor and 12 upgraded microphones (eight on vs. XM5). This will not be 2025 without a healthy dose of AI. By that end, XM6 has a lack of AI noise, which the company says was trained on more than 500 million voice samples. The result is some seriously cool phone and video call. You also have a fresh AI noise optimizer feature, which works to identify and eliminate the environmental noise.

I took the XM6 and Bose Shantcomfort Ultra Headphone for a trip on the subway of New York City – a place filled with random odor and noise. Neither the coach pairing did anything for the summer boded in the air, but a lot for the latter. In the context of regular train noise (opening and closing, proceeding with tracks, announcement of train, etc.), XM6 was slightly better in muteing dinner without playing any music.

Sony’s latest ANC headphone also did a better job to save me from a lover’s spat in the train. I usually hear more ambient sound when wearing Bose’s coolness ultra. I cited Shaggy’s “It’s It’s Mei Me” on XM6 and committed myself to keep my own business in mind. Okay, I may switch to the ambient sound to hear some juice details, but not for complete conversation.

Talking about the ambient sound, this is the mode when I am walking alone at night or in unfamiliar environment. It gives the outside noise so that you can monitor your surroundings. One minute, I am not listening to Ying Yang Twins’s “Weight (Whisper Song),”, “and next, there are nothing but birds tweeting and deep bass and hoarse songs in traffic sounds there.

Dark bass, bright high, and full mids – what a driver makes a difference. 30 mm drivers use a more rigid dome construction, which translates into a more balanced audio performance. Since my regular playlist covers a wide health of music styles, I kept the underlying equalizer closed to achieve the most frequency. This means that no artificial bass was being added when I heard the “enemy” of Sevendst. It was just me, crisp cymbals, bombing collisions, an energetic set of electric guitar, and silk smooth tone against the gutural scream.

Even without spatial audio or cinematic mode, XM6’s soundstage is seriously generous. I can actually create a fine vibration of the twang of the guitar on “right right” by Reyana Roberts. The violin and the vowels were equally clean, where I could hear some plosives, such as Roberts accepted words such as “night” and “taught”.

But what about the low end? No, XM6 is not as rigid on bass as Sony’s final headphone. But I came to know that they still bring boom because I have heard the “dyer” of pop smoke. The bass was good and weighty, but did not overwhelm the violin, hi-hat, or nextal chirps and other electronic elements in the drill track.

Whether I am watching a film or listening to music, I have become one of my favorite features to indulge in spatial audio. Searishly, cu cu cu cu cu who supports Dolby Atomos or Sony’s 360 audio format – you will thank me. This is a cool, almost terrible feeling that you move your head to left or up and down and react to your place accordingly. This essentially creates your own personal concert hall. The first headphone is said to be connect, the named sound connect app maintains all previous functionality when adding new features. While I like a kitchen sink approach for features, I think many users will not touch more than 50% of them. Speak-to-chat, spatial audio, ambient sound control, adaptive sound control, and multipoint pairing are all present. There is some new hearing mode for the scene, which lets you togle between standard, background music and cinematic mode. The first is very straightforward: you listen with whatever settings you are enabled.

The background reduces music volume so that you can do a conversation. The audio is slightly immersed, but you can still bauge without losing too much detail. The cinematic mode is an accurate contrast and expands the soundstage. It is not at the equal value with spatial audio, but it is the mode that I use when you are watching movies or TVs. (If you are concerned about the protection of your hearing, the app has a safe hearing facility that tracks your sound allowance as per the advice by the World Health Organization. It can also track how many ambient noises have been protected from your ears.)

There is also visual-based hearing (SBL). This is handed by hand with adaptive sound control. Where the latter automatically adjusts the noise cancellation based on your location, SBL will start playing music from your chosen player depending on activity or location. You can set it to play at the beginning of your traffic, while you are taking a jog or working in the gym and the app will learn your habits and adjust ANC levels accordingly.

My only complaint is that some cooler characteristics, such as spatial audio and their equalizer, are not in front and centers. Instead, they are distant in the small menu that are not easy to navigate. You really have to hunt for the setting you are looking for.

I have already mentioned that the XM6 has a set of 12 microphones on each side, half of which is a beamphoring devices designed to focus on taking your voice. Mix it with AI Reduction Technology, and you have received crystal clear calls whether you are associated with a smartphone or laptop. I was most impressed how well the AI ​​deficiency worked. Whether I was in a busy coffee shop or running on a construction-turned road, my callers did not report noise without any background. This does not mean that they completely pull out Jacques, which I or overhead train. The headphone muted them and all killed resistance to any wind, but some noise does not completely disappear.

The XM6 has a quick charge in the 30 -hour battery life (with the noise cancellation) as XM5, which translates a three -hour power after plugs for three minutes. If you disable the noise cancellation, the battery shoots up to 40 hours. Keeping the volume at about 50%, I had to charge the headphone twice during just one week. While I loved XM6 for Sony to give even more battery life, this does not mean that the company did not give us any kind of improvement. Unlike the previous headphone in the 1000 series, you can charge XM6 while they are in use. Instead of coming from Brooklyn to Bronx Sense Music or ANC for a long time, I plugged them into my anchor battery pack and maintained my peace in the train.

I am going to curse my curse to stop Sony from doubting when it comes to getting ahead of itself. But this is very difficult when it seems that the company’s ANC headphone cannot get any better. Because let’s clear, XM5 landed in many best noise-redemption headphone list. But Sony W-1000xm6 has settled about what has liked about its predecessor and has given it a big update. Better driver? check. New processor? Yes. Really useful AI features? you betcha. The result is a sophisticated and feature-pack pair of premium ANC headphones with the best-in-class ANC and a comfortable, safe design.
