Key takeaways of zdnet
- WPLACE is a site that lets you paint a pixel anywhere in the world every 30 seconds.
- Even though it is quite new, it has exploded in popularity.
- You will find artwork, warning groups, alliances, and more worldwide.
If you recall the annual R/location experiment of Reddit – Part collaborative project, part social experiment – good news: it’s back. at least a form It is back to a website called WPLACE. Like R/Place, Wplace colors you in a pixel on a large canvas to create an image. Only around this time, you are colored in a world map.
The site started only last month, but it is exploding in popularity, and now there are frescoes all over the world. There are many artwork centers around the Internet culture, but there is a stunning amount of real artwork. Naturally, separate fandes have given rise to turf wars, alliances have been formed to protect some areas, and images appear in the most random locations.

Here is described how WPLACE works. To join, head https://wplace.live
You have to login with Google or Twitch account to play. The site hosts a world map where you can zoom out, zoom in and scroll. You have the ability to move the map anywhere in the world or click on a button to go directly to your place. Every 30 seconds, you can color in a pixel that can see everyone else. WPLACE says that the entire map has more than 4 trillion pixels.
If you want to create a group project, you can join a themed alliance or form your own alliance where you plan your artwork with others.
A pixel mapping to the world at a time
When I pop in my specific neighborhood on the map, I also had to zoom to see any pixel art. The nearest artwork, a Pokémon character, was about 15 miles away. As I scrolled all around, I paid attention to more artwork. It was mostly animated characters, but I received a very good representation of the logo of my local baseball team at my stadium.

As I scrolled in a major city near me, the map was packed with more characters, memes, team logo and slightly unattainable language. It was sometimes attractive to see quite primary, sometimes very effective artwork. As you can imagine, the map is constantly changing. If there is a coordinated effort, the artwork can pop up very quickly.
WPLACE has some limitations
WPLACE has some rules. You are not allowed only to paint on other artifacts using random colors or patterns to mess up things, but you can paint them on other artifacts to complement them or create a new drawing.

Additionally, you cannot build pictures related to hatred-group or adult materials, disclose someone’s personal information, create more than one account or use bot, or degrade political party flags or pictures of politicians (scrolling on political hotbade like Washington, DC, however, I do not believe that later).
You do not need to spend any money to join Wplace, but there are small microtrans for more features.
