- Pixel 8 and later support display p3 wide color sargoot.
- P3 provides rich, more accurate color than SRGB.
- Photos may sound dull on devices that do not support P3.
One reason is that the pixel phones are so popular that there is a camera. A depth, a level of clarity, and luxurious/precise color that most phone cameras cannot mail.

Google is always trying to make itself one-up by improving the pixel camera with every repetition. Back with Pixel 8, Google introduced the P3 Wide Sargam Capture feature, which came with Ultra HDR format of Android 14. The display P3 Wide Sargam Capture makes the photo seriously alive with color.
What is display P3?
Display P3 is a colorful space that adds the following:
- DCI-P3 Rang Sargam
- D65 white point
- Srgb gamma curve
For those who were not sitting on the popular photography club table in lunch, Gama is a non -linear operation that is used to encoded and decode luminance in photos and videos. Another easy-to-understanding definition is that gamma defines the relationship between the numerical value of a pixel and its light. Without gamma, your photos do not capture the color because your eyes see it.

The white point (aka white balance) helps a camera to avoid tint in colors and light. Think about it in terms of color temperature. Are you doing the film in the light or hot indoor light of the day? With a wrong white point, your photos can come out with blue or amber cast.
Color Sargam is a series of colors within a color space that can be reproduced by a device.
Display P3 (also known as DCI-P3) is a colorful space created by Digital Cinema initiative and Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers to try and standardize colors used in the film industry. P3 targets what you see in cinema. Even there is a chart of coordinates for red (x = .68, y = .332), green (x = .265, y = .69), blue (x = .15, y = .06), white point (x = .134, y = .351).

P3 offers much wide colors compared to SRGB, so anyone should consider using display P3 to watch their mobile photography game. If you are Google Pixel 8 or 9 users, you are in luck because all smartphones of that range support P3.
Let me show you how to enable it.

A warning to use P3 is that not all equipment are compatible. You can take a picture with P3 Sargam and then share it with someone who has a device that does not support it. When they open the photo, it will not look as good on your device.
