Tiktok on Wednesday announced that it is expanding its suits of accessibility tools by supporting AI-generated ALT text, a high-contrasting mode, and device-level bold text preferences for photos.
Tiktok offered support for the ALT text for photos a few weeks ago, allowing the creators to provide descriptive text for photos to help users to understand visual content through the details spoken with screen readers. Now, the company is testing the AI-Janit ALT text, when the creators do not manually add the Alt text, to automatically describe the photo to take out the photo out loud.
The company says that the AI-ALT text will make Tikok more accessible for people with visual loss. This step comes as Instagram Using AI for ALT Lesson since 2018.

For the new high-finished mode, the user will be able to switch it with the new “color contrast” option in the accessibility section of the app. Doing this will increase the foreground color of lessons, icons and user interface elements. This change will make Ticketkok more useful for less contrast to people with low vision or sensitivity, the company says.
Tiktok now also follows the bold text setting of the user’s device, which means that it will display all in-app texts in the bold when it is automatically enabled. This increases readability for users who prefer or rely on boulder fonts.
“We know that when people see, heard, and support, they are empowered to share their stories, connect and connect with others in meaningful ways,” the company said. blog post“This is why we focus on constant manufacturing products that serve everyone. We not only see access to a responsibility, but also as an opportunity to innovate and promote a more inclusive platform for our global community.”
The new features include Tiktok’s existing suit of accessibility tools, including features such as video content, dark mode, text-to-speech and auto-early caption for the ability to adjust the text size in the app.
