To replace 8 settings on your Google Pixel phone for better battery life

    Kerry Van/ZDDNet

Pixel phones have an excellent reputation for smart software, but the battery life has been a common complaint with Google’s smartphone. Thankfully, the same smart software is now improving battery life and longevity, although many features are not set out of the box for maximum endurance. I have found that a handful of features can dramatically improve how long your pixel lasts, both in a day and in a long race.

Also: I have already owned each Google Pixel Flagship phone – why 2025 will be different here.

Here are batteries tweex on which I trust with my pixel, and how you can set them for the best results.

    1. Use battery saver and extreme battery saver mode

Pixel battery saver mode is required when you need your phone to run as long as possible on a moment notice. Standard battery saver is good in the sense that it immediately limits background activity, switchs to the dark theme, and reduces visual effects that can do the battery.

The real superhero is extreme battery saver, which is going even further by stopping most apps and notifications to increase its battery if needed. Seriously, it is effective.

Here’s how to set the mode. Settings> Battery> Go to the battery saver and togle the battery saver or extreme battery saver. You can go ahead by diving into settings to save extreme battery and choose which apps are active in extreme mode.

If you need this support regularly, you can schedule the battery saver to automatically turn on the percentage of your selection.

    2. Adaptive battery is smart power management

The adaptive battery is one of the most effective battery-saved tools of Google that uses machine learning to determine which apps you are likely to use and when you can use them. Over time, the convenience learns your habits and starts limiting background power to less important apps, adding valuable hours in your daily battery life.

To ensure that the adaptive battery is working, open the settings> battery> battery saver and make sure that the adaptive battery is tolerated. Then give a few weeks to the tool to learn the pattern of your use, especially if you have just set a new phone or reset the factory.

    3. Set your screen for adaptive glow

How many times have you blind your phone with only a bright performance in a dark room? The phone display is one of the largest drains on the battery, and the most bright screen settings in all references are not required. Adaptive brightness uses AI to learn your preferences and habits and automatically adjust the glow, when you do not need to shout at you, keep it low.

To enable adaptive brightness, go to Settings> Display> Adaptive Brightness and turn the feature. Over time, your phone will be better for you to predict the right glow, which is a certain way to save the battery in a long time.

    4. Adjust adaptive connectivity to save electricity at 5g pixels

Since we are clearly on the adaptive train, it is worth noting that the pixel of 4A has an easy-to-mise feature called adaptive connectivity. The speed of 5G is great, but there may be a large drain on the radio battery. Adaptive connectivity is relevant aware and automatically switchs between 5G and 4G LTE that you are doing, depending on this, selecting for 4G for basic functions and 5g when streaming or downloading something big.

Too: I have changed 10 settings on my pixel phone to improve user experience

To check or enable the facility, open the Settings> Network and Internet> Open adaptive connectivity and ensure that it is a togal. It is unlikely that you will see a noticeable decline in speed, but you will see the difference in battery life over time.

    5. Mode while sleeping in the drain overnight

Bedtime mode, part of digital welling, my favorite way to save the battery while sleeping. It is a powerful toolkit that does not disturb, dim or granscale to the screen, and can always neutralize the display so that your phone does not illuminate the unnecessary pixel all night at bedtime.

To set the feature, go to Settings> Digital Welling and Paternal Control> Bedtime Mode. There, you can set your favorite schedule and choose to close the always-on display at night.

    6. “Mobile data always active” disable for better standby time

    Jason Howell/ZDNET

By default, Android keeps your mobile data on even when you are on Wi-Fi, which makes a faster, more spontaneous handoff between the network. This is a good quality of life, do not consider me wrong, but it is not always necessary to keep mobile data flowing in the background and the battery affects life in the process.

If you are ticking advanced settings, you can close this feature in a special hidden menu called the developer option. To reveal the menu, go to Settings> about the phone and tap build number seven times to unlock the developer options. Now, Settings> System> Return to the developer option, find “mobile data always active” and turn it off.

Too: I have changed 12 settings on my Android phone to dramatically improve battery life

Once you get out of the range of your connected Wi-Fi network, you can see a slightly slow transition to cellular data, but for many people, this minor discomfort is worth savings.

    7. Enable adaptive charging to protect your battery health

    Jason Howell/ZDNET

Maximizing battery life is not only about making it through the day, it is also about keeping your battery healthy over the years. The charging optimization menu of Google on new Pixel devices provides some smart tools to help reduce wearing wearing battery, especially during night charging.

Adaptive charging helps in protecting your battery by learning your charging habits over time. Instead of charging 100% and keeping it, the battery continues to feed the current, your pixel charges up to 80% quickly, then usually finishes the charge just before getting up. This feature reduces the time when your battery is spent on full charge, which can expand its overall lifestyle.

Also: Google will announce its next lineup of Pixel on August 20 – what we know here

To enable adaptive charging, go to Settings> Battery> Charging Optimization> Adaptive Charging and ensure that “use charging optimization” is on. Then check that adaptive charging has been selected.

    8. Take advantage of battery health aid (Pixel 9A and new)

Talking about battery health, Google has started rolling out battery health aid on the latest Pixel, starting with Pixel 9A. This feature automatically manages the maximum voltage of your battery, which begins after about 200 charge cycles and gradually adjusts 1,000 cycles. The final goal is to slow down the aging of the battery and help your phone to have high capacity over time.

The good news is that in devices supported like Pixel 9A, this feature is running automatically in the background. The tool is not a user-yellow, but this long-term battery is a big step for health.

With these tweex, you can get more than every charge and help your pixel battery to stay healthy for years. I have tested these settings on my devices, and the difference is real. Whether you are trying to make it through a long day or want your phone for age, these battery tips will help your pixel to move away when it matters the most.
