UBISOFT has confirmed that a new Ghost Ricon game is in the game functions – the first entry in the series after the 2019 Ghost Ricon: Breakpoint.
During the meeting of the annual general shareholders of UBISOFT (through Game file) CEO Yaves Guilmot was asked about the live service games that created the history of the publisher. Guilllemot replied while pointing to the success of Rainbow Six: Siege, before advancing the company’s widespread strategy:
“In addition to the flagship game, which I have just mentioned,” Guilmot said, “Our aim is to make strong progress in the growing market, generally speaking, continuing to increase our current experiences that we introduce – and capitalizing the upcoming launch, such as divisions and ghost reconnections.”
All this Guilmot had to say that unannounced Ghost Ricon game so far. But later in the meeting, Ubisoft’s CFO Frederick Dugate also addressed the theme of Ghost Ricon. This time, the reference was how UBISOFT planned to use his investment from Tencent, which won 25% stake in a new subsidiary formed by the French publisher in March.
For this, Dugate explained that the investment “will be used for future development of other major brand names. So we have received … Ghost Ricon is just an example for our first person shooter-type games.” Dugate also said that money will be used to “promote our live game”, citing crew and as an example.
There are rumors of a new ghost ricon game Operated for yearsWith a new entry, Ubisoft is being developed by Paris as 2021 back under codename over. Is it the same game that Guilmot mentions as an upcoming launch, or a completely separate project, is not clear.
While the details are thin, the statement of Guelmot strongly affects the fact that this next Ghost Ricon will be a live service affair. This won’t be very surprising, given the success, Ubisoft has found live service experiences with both seas and division 2. The most recent Ghost Rickon Games, Breakpoints, also wandered into the live service sector, received several major updates between 2019 and 2022. It is believed to be primarily because the game launched nonsense, as I discovered my disappointment in my Ghost Ricon: Breakpoint Review. But UBISOFT partially rescued its reputation in later years (at least, until it tried to play NFTs in the game) and that experience may have pushed the company to a live service model for the next game.
Dugate’s comment about this is also interesting to be an FPS-type experience. The last two Ghost Ricon Games, Wildlands and Breakpoint were mainly the third-person cover shooter, so this may mean that Ghost Ricon is returning to its strategic-FPS roots. Then, the dugate could use “first-person shooter” as a shorthand for the “action game”, so it is not completely clear at this point.
It is also worth noting that UBISOFT tried to create a live service ghost Ricon game once before, once earlier, as a free-to-play battle-royle shooter Ghost Ricon: Frontline developed by Ubisoft Bucharests. But that project was canceled Intense backlash for your announcementSo it will be interesting to see what lesson Ubisoft has learned from him, if this new Ghost Ricon is actually a live services affair as Guilmot suggests.
