As we expected, WWDC 2025 – Mainly the opening Kenot – came and moved without a formal update on Siri. Apple is still working on AI-infused updates, which is essentially a much more individual and actionable virtual aid. Lance Ulnoff, the editor of Techradar on a large scale, broke the nuances of the cause of the delay after a conversation with Craig Federghi.
Now, even without AI-infused Siri, Apple made a very important upgrade to Apple Intelligence, but it is not necessarily you in the place you think. This visual intelligence-iPhone 16 family, iPhone 15 Pro, or iPhone 15 Pro is offering a special feature for Max-as an upgrade it receives a new way to make awareness and search as it is kept within a screenshot power.
This is a companion feature for the original set of visual intelligence how – how – a long press on the camera control button (or customizing the action button on the 15 Pro) draws live views of your iPhone’s camera and the ability to take a shot, as well as what your iPhone sees, “ask” or “search” for it.
This is a more basic version of Google lens, in which you can identify plants, pets and make visually discovery. Most of this will not change with iOS 26, but you will be able to use visual intelligence for screenshots. After a brief demo in WWDC 2025, I am eager to use it again.
Visual intelligence makes screenshots very more actionable, and potentially can save you a place on your iPhone … especially if your photo app is anything like me and is full of screenshots. The big effort on the part of Apple here is that it gives us the taste of on-screen awareness.
Screenshotting I saw a glimpse of the new interface with a poster for an upcoming movie night with a message chat with a message chat. This is the classic screenshot interface of the iPhone, but is familiar to the left to the left “Ask,” and “search” on the right, while the middle is a suggestion of Apple Intelligence in the middle that may vary depending on your screenshot.
In this case, it was “added to the calendar”, allowing me to easily create an invitation with the name of the film’s night on the correct date and time. Essentially, it is identifying elements in the screenshot and extracting relevant information.
pretty neat! Instead of taking the screenshot of the image only, you can be added to your calendar only in seconds. It is also in functionality that I think a lot of iPhone owners will appreciate – even if the best pixels or the Galaxy S25 Ultra could do so for some time.
Apple Intelligence will provide these suggestions when it will understand them correctly – which may be to invite or reminder, as well as translating other languages into your favorite one, briefly, or even loud reading.
All is very easy, but suppose you are scrolling tickets or Instagram reels and looking at a product – perhaps a cute button below or a poster that catches your eye – visual intelligence has a solution for it, and it is the north of apple to the circle to find the circle on Android.
You will screenshots, and then after taking it, just scrub on the part of the image you want to find. This is a similar on-screen effect when you choose an object to remove in the photo ‘clean up’, but after that, it will let you find it through Google or Chatgpt. Other apps can also choose for this API that Apple is providing.
And this is where it becomes very exciting – you will be able to scroll to find all available places, such as Etsy or Amazon. I think it would be a fan-pasandida when it ship does, although there is not a reason to completely go out and buy an iPhone that supports visual intelligence … yet, at least.
Additionally, if you will just search for the entire screenshot, this is the place where the ‘ask’ and ‘search’ buttons come. With those people, you can use Google or Chatgpt. The ability to search beyond the ability to analyze and suggest through the screenshot, or the ability to search with selection, has also expanded the types of things that can identify visual intelligence pets and plants beyond books, sites and pieces of arts beyond.
It was not immediately available at all launch, but Apple is clearly working to expand the capabilities of visual intelligence and increase the feature set of Apple Intelligence. Keeping this in mind, we get a glimpse of on-screen awareness, I am very excited.
