Westjet, Canada’s second largest airline, is investigating a cyber attack, which has disrupted access to some internal systems as it responds to the violation.
“Westjet is aware of a cyber security phenomenon that includes internal system and Westjet app, which is restricted to many users,” a reading Security advisor On the Westjet’s site.
“We have activated special internal teams in collaboration with law enforcement and transport Canada to investigate the case and limit the effects.”
“We are accelerating efforts to maintain the safety of our operations and secure sensitive data and personal information for both our guests and employees, and we apologize to all the guests for any disruption for their access to the services of Westjet.”
The attack also prevented users from logging into the website and mobile app, now restored with those services.
The Saturday morning update states that the company’s operation continues safely, but the attack has affected access to some software and services.
It is not clear whether the loss of access to its system is caused by a ransomware attack that encryps devices or if they close them to prevent the spread of breech.
Bleepingcomputer contacted Westjet with questions about the beach, but did not get any answer at this time.
