I want to start saying that when I talk about video games, I am very easy to please and thank goodness for it. During my 35 years I have seen many game reviews that are either average, average, or my favorite, 7/10, and often I am finishing them. I reflect pre-internet days in the 90s when my parents used to take me to the film/game rental store and I used to take out NES games based on box art; Sometimes they were great games, sometimes they were not there, but I discovered a lot of games that I liked that I later came to know that the internet was not well reviewed after being prominent.
Who brings me Fire bladesIt has a respectable user score of 8.2 on Metacritic, while (some) critics were not high on sports. However, it clearly had a positive impact on the players, and I am one of them. I am glad that I took a chance on it despite its generic box-arts because it is the definition of “not judge a book by its cover”, and I am thrilled by it.
First and most important, it is a 3D action adventure, while simultaneously metroidvenia. It should not be surprising to see his most recent game that there was a new 2D metroid (DREAD). Some people have postponed it like a soul, which I think is a wrong comparison. It can feel that way in the context of its difficulty, and trust me, it is not close to the reference to define it as a complete style built on that punishment.
The game shines in its war, introduces a wide array of weapons and fighter techniques. Each weapon has its own unique step and the way to attack enemies is based on directional hit. This is a specific fighter system that you really need to use. And the way to achieve new weapons types is by defeating the enemies in a certain number, making you feel that you are always progressing. However, you have to make these weapons to get them. It is a drug addiction mini-game that plays a harsh role in your success or failure in future war.
The world of the game is attractive in itself-it really feels that the old school of the action adventure games PS3/Xbox 360-era where the letters are at the top, the story is bombing but fun, and it does not take itself very seriously. This develops emotions when I first played the original deity of war, and it is probably the most accurate details for the entire game because it prefers it in the context of progress, exploration and war.
I only have a real complaint, and if it is a little more clearly handed over, this game would be the top level for me; This level is design and map. While the exploration is rewarded, it is very easy to get lost despite avoiding the linear line. There are lots of interviews in dense classes and it can be misleading, and overworld map is very low to help with navigation. I think it will benefit greatly with a mini map. Along with this, it has been said, it contains metroidvenia DNA, so it means that it is low. Additionally, I am playing on the most difficult difficulty where it does not show you where your next purpose is, so it is important to discover your environment and focus on dialogue.
