WhatsApp has introduced a new translation facility that enables Android and iPhone users to translate messages in chat, group and channel updates.
While the iOS users can only use it to translate manually after tapping the ‘translation’, Android users will also be able to enable automatic translation, allowing all messages to translate into a chat thread, which can be translated without taping each personally.
“We are slowly translating messages to Android and iPhone users, to start more and more in select languages,” Said On Tuesday.
“If you see a message in a different language, you can now just press and tap on ‘translation’. Choose the language you want to translate or translate the message, and download it to be saved for future translations.”
The new feature supports more than 19 languages on iOS devices, while Android users will be able to translate lessons into English, Spanish, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Arabic.
WhatsApp stated that this feature is also designed to protect the privacy of users, as it would translate all the ingredients on the device without sending it to the company’s server.
“Message translations were designed to protect the privacy of your chat. That is why there are translations on your device where WhatsApp cannot see them,” said this.

In April, WhatsApp introduced a new advanced chat privacy feature, which exchanges sensitive information in group conversations and private chats.
Last month, the messaging service also unveiled a new security facility that helps users to spot potential scams when they are added to a new group chat, which is not in their contact list by someone.
Meta says that more than three billion people from over 180 countries are using WhatsApp instant messaging and video calling platforms.
