Why do I swear on competitive model (including Apple Watch Ultra) by this Garmin Smartwatch

    Key takeaways of zdnet

    • Garmin Venu X1 is available in two color options for $ 799.99.
    • Big 2-inch display is fantastic, LED flashlight is fantastic, thin cases and light bands make it a pleasure to wear, and the calculator now has a tip button.
    • Always-on mode batteries significantly reduce life, the clock is expensive, and dual-band GPS is not installed.

    More Buying Choices

    June / 2025

I have been using gamin sports watches for more than a decade and have very clear expectations to release new models, but I recently caught the guard completely from the announcement. Garmin Venu X1,

It is unique to gamin, but clearly looks like a fairly direct contestant Apple Watch Ultra 2,

The Garmin Venu X1 stands with its bold, almost square design and a vivid two-inch amold screen-the largest on a germin smartwatch. This Watch provides more screen real estate than Ultra 2, even makes space for eight data fields during workouts. Result? At a glance, crisp, easy-to-half statistics, even for the eyes of aging like me.

I have first worn the Venu model, but usually only before going back to a Fenix, Enduro, Instinct or forearm for my daily use for only one or two months. The main reason was that the Venu series overshadowed a touchscreen with just two hardware buttons, and after using for a five-button setup of germines, the UI takes a little adjustment.

She said, Venu was the first gamin watch with an AMOLED display, and X1 takes things to the next level with this new large form factor.

Like the Fenix 8 series, Venu X1 has a speaker and microphone so that you can call from your wrist, record voice notes while exercising, and activate many control tasks with your voice.

Three shortcuts can be assigned to two buttons so that you can get regular tasks quickly without swipe or tapping on the display. I set them on voice commands, flashlight and alarm, making me more utility quickly.

Talking about the LED flashlight, Garmin deploys one on the top right of the Venu X1, and has four white levels and a red light level that appears on the display after activation. Strobe and other advanced LED light control during activities can be enabled on Venu X1, and I have found them very bright and useful when they are out at night or in deep environment.

A small feature of Apple Watch Ultra 2 that I use regularly is the easy tip calculator found in the calculator app. I wondered to see that gamin includes a tip button on the calculator and these small tasks help reduce the infection in Venu X1 from Apple Watch.

Venu X1 has a major difference compared to Apple Watch Ultra 2, very long battery life. If you forever turn off the display mode, you can expect battery life for eight days. Fortunately, the twist-to-to-on-on works innocent, so I do not always remember-on mode.

In fact, I always found the Apple Watch Ultra’s limited battery life, always found the battery life of Garmin for about two days. With full fee, GPS tracking mode should provide 14–16 hours of activity tracking.

Despite the large display size, the clock is very light at only 40 grams, thanks to the incredibly light and comfortable new comfortable fabric band. The Venu X1 is also thin at just 7.9 mm, which makes it even better for sleep tracking. However, thin form factor and large screen can compromise me on battery life with other garmining devices.

Garmin Venu X1 Apple Watch is a better GPS sports watch than Ultra 2, thanks to his adaptable data field, thanks to native support and long battery life for more activities. However, it lacks cellular connectivity, which would have been very good if it would have been available only due to security reasons, such as the old precursor 945 LTE.

Also: 4 Health Trackers I suggest anyone (and why they make such a big difference)

This new clock is actually not a Venu heir, but is more with a slimmer, a large square display with sleaker phenix. Lack of multi-band GPS and ECG support is a miss at this price point, but the thin form factor can have limited internal space, and I am ready to leave those glasses for this form factor.

Dy-hard gamin users cannot like it, but this Apple Watch is a great transition tool for ultra (and other wearables) fans.

    ZDNET purchase advice

The guard was caught by the launch of many of us Garmin Venu X1And it has a little polarization with large screen, limited battery life and high price. But by testing it for a little longer than a week, it is very surprising.

For those who want more capable wearing as the Apple Watch Ultra, the Venu X1 is a welcome to the lineup. Big displays, thin form factor, and all germin customization people have started loving people who are found in this compelling smartwatch.

Garmin Venu X1 receives its fresh functional design, sleep of health and fitness features, and long -lasting battery life for life. “This is the Garmin version of Apple Watch Ultra, which I expected,” called the wareball specialist of Matthew Miller, ZDNET. It ticks most boxes of Fenix 8 AMOLED at a low price point, it has a very comfortable form factor, and is an LED flashlight that is ideal for external activities and safety purposes.
