For the last few weeks, I have been testing an interesting small gadget called called Journigo 4G HotspotIt is about the size of hockey puck (and even resembles the same), with a simple purpose: to provide a strong, reliable Wi-Fi hotspot connection for personal devices when away from home. You have to gamble on the spotted local networks while traveling or not pay those outrageous roaming fees.
Apart from this: Ookla launched Wi-Fi Speedtest certified program to help prove network quality.
Yes, smartphones can do the same thing through hotspot tethering, but it is better than the smartphone. It is a pocket-shaped device that ensures that you are always connected to the broader internet, it is for work, school or streaming. Namely, at least for most parts. There are some landscapes where the Journigo stumbles.
Allow me to explain.
Establishment of Journigo
Setting Journigo hotspots is straightforward. Once you turn it on, scan the QR code at the bottom to activate the device. Then, you have to buy a service plan with Travelfi so that you can use Journigo. I will later list membership details as they belong to the overall cost of the device.
The GurnyGo smartphones, laptops, desktop PC support 10 simultaneous connections, and even handheld gaming console like Lenovo Legion GoS operates by connecting to scanning and cellphone towers, automatically choosing the strongest signal.
Display
Before I discuss what is good about Journigo, I want to review the challenges that I had to face because I believe they would be quite common. The biggest challenge was outside the intervention. I live near a busy intersection, which means dozens of smartphones, laptops and other devices compete for access to the same local wireless network. Under these conditions, Journigo struggled.

Internet speed came down wildly. In its worst form, everything slowed down to load ordinary web pages with a crawl to load forever. When connected to my desktop (which contains Wi-Fi antennas), download and upload the speed of plumated for only 2.3 Mbps and 1.39 Mbps respectively. Even there were times when the connection would fall completely, except for a red LED indicator.
Outside these sub -sects, the performance was completely fine; In fact, it was very good.
The GurnyGo 4G shines in a low-trial atmosphere. At night, when fewer people competed for bandwidth, the hotspot connection was almost unlikely to Wi-Fi from my house. Web pages were quickly loaded, streaming Netflix show was smooth, and everyday browsing felt comfortable.
For example, I managed to buy new gym shorts, an ox cord, hair pommed, and streamped a low-Fi hip hop station on YouTube in 1080p without any bottleneck. Each video that I watched ran continuously in high resolution (some were in 4K), and came through the audio crystal.
Also: Finally, I found a portable charger that checks all my boxes for the journey.
Travlfi’s gadget is not limited to casual browsing and streaming videos; It also supports stable online gaming. I was impressed that I could play HELLDIVERS 2 online with other people. To be completely honest, I was expecting a completely crash, or at least slightly to stutten the connection. Not only the experience was smooth, but I did not have a single disconnection.
However, even in optimal conditions, Journigo still did not have the best download and upload speed. I ran the OCla Internet Speed Test on an Acer Aspire 16AI while connecting to the hotspot gadget, and the best download and upload speed was 11.11 Mbps and 15.92 Mbps respectively. They are perfectly fine for HD video streaming, but not to download large files.
As part of another test, I installed a brave browser on Aspire 16, to see how much time it would take. Above the Journigo, the process of downloading and installing the brave took about three minutes. On the Wi-Fi of my house, it took about 50 seconds.
I should also note that the journigo can be warm during extended use – the amount of heat depends on what you do. I added my PC to the whole day’s work, and it became very toast. It was barely hot when I added Jarnigo to Acer Aspire 16 and run a continuous livestream.
Double duty
An interesting feature of Journigo is that it doubles as a power bank, making already useful equipment even more useful. He said, it is not the fastest charger in the world. I plugged 15% in my OnePlus Nord N20, and after about 30 minutes, it only climbed up to 30%.
According to a company representative, the power capacity of Journigo is 17.4 WH. So, using the watt-hour watt-wattlap formula, it means that the power generation of the gadget is about 34.8 watts. Journigo is not the fastest charger, but in a pinch, it comes into use.

For its own battery, the longevity of the Journigo depends on its workload. Travlfi says that its hotspot could last up to 16 hours on the same charge. I had different times. While it was connected to my desktop, Journigo lasted only for about 13 hours. However, the aspire is connected to 16, running a livestream, it lasted for a long time – about 20 hours.
ZDNET purchase advice
Journigo 4G Hotspot Usually retail for $ 199, but at the time of this writing, it is on sale for $ 159. Once you buy the device, you will have to subscribe to one of the company’s pay-e-u-go internet plan. Pricing starts at $ 19 per month for 2GB of data and a scale of up to $ 129 per month for unlimited data.
For testing, I had an unlimited plan, which I was able to stream everything mentioned in video, work, and without any problem. One of good things about TravefiThe plans are their flexibility. They are commitment-free. All you have to do is pay for the months that you intend to use the Journigo 4G, and you can cancel at any time, which makes it very traveling.
