Wikipedia volunteers are AI support
Wikimedia Foundation Has announced that it will use AI to build new features. However, these new features are “in the service of making unique opportunities that will promote Wikipedia volunteers.”
In other words, instead of changing editors, volunteers and intermediaries, the new AI equipment of Wikipedia will automate tedious tasks and help to onboard new volunteers with “directed mentarships”. AI will also be used to improve the discovery of platform information. It gives editors more time to create and create a consensus when creating, editing or updating Wikipedia entries.
Wikipedia wants your volunteers to spend more time on what they want to complete instead of worrying about technical details. Generative AI is not good as human inspection
Wikipedia is not the most reliable source of information on the Internet. But it consists of human inspection, which makes better than generic AI solutions, which often make hallucinations or facts in my opinion.
