Microsoft announced that it had changed the Windows 11 version 24h2 and later with new and more secure JSCRIPT9LEGACY, the default scripting engine JSCRIPT has changed.
This decision is inspired by safety concerns, as JSscript9legacy is expected to provide better protection against web hazards, such as cross-site scripting (XSS), and also improvement in performance.
“To provide a more secure experience, start with Windows 11, version 24h2, JSCRIPT9LEGAC is able to handle all scripting procedures and operations which used to use JSCRIPT earlier,” Microsoft’s Naveen Shankar announced,
JSPT (JSCRIPT.DLL), introduced in 1996, is the implementation of ECMASRIPT, which is similar to JavaScript, and was mainly used in Internet Explorer and was used in internet explorer and to automate the tasks, accept the form or create the form, or to create the form script.
The engine today is considered severely older, with modern JavaScript safety standards, non-compliance, and memory corruption, arbitrary code execution, and the frequent targets of XSS weaknesses are triggered through malicious documents, emails and websites.
Despite its position, it remained a default engine on Windows so far to ensure backward compatibility and to avoid breaking the workflow in important systems.
But with the Internet Explorer now left and extended the edge browser, pulling the Microsoft line and finally changes JSCRIPT with JSCRIPT9LEGACY (JSCRIPT9LEGACY.DLL) that starts Windows 11 24H2.
The new engine is a modern version of JSCRIPT9, which can be used outside the browser, and is designed to support the needs of heritage scripting with better security and compatibility.
The switch requires no user action to effective on the latest Windows version, and the existing script must continue to work expected.
If compatibility problems arise, Microsoft says that it is possible to contact a rollback support team for the old engine.
