One of many easy features in Adobe Photoshop has your work the ability to save your work as a PSD file with all your layers, editing and adjustment. Then you can open the file when you want to continue where you left. Microsoft is now adding similar capacity to Windows Paint.

currently Windows 11 rolling for interiors On Canary and Dev Channels, the new project files feature will save your work as an editable paint file that you can open and continue modifying. Here’s how it works and why it is useful.

How do project files work in Windows Paint

Suppose you are using paint to create or edit an image with different layers.

Generally, you can save that image as a PNG or JPG file. But this is a problem because they will not maintain format layers. This means that you can not make any additional adjustments for them, they need more editing the image.

Too: This new photoshop facility can promote image resolution in only one click, thanks for AI

To continue editing the image, you can save it as a .PAINT file. This preserves your layers and other changes so that you can easily pick up where you left. To do this, just click on the file menu and choose as a project. Choose a name and location for the file.

When you want to resume your work with layers and other editing, just open the .PAINT file and you will look at your editable image as you left it.

    Photoshop contestant?

Photoshop and other third-party image editors have long offered a similar option. I use Photoshop elements, which allows me to save my work in progress. But with this ability available in the built -in paint app, many people may not need to rely as much on third -party tools, especially those paid.

Another cool new paint feature accessible to Windows 11 interiors is an opative slider. Here, you can control the transparency of your stroke with pencils and brush tools. For this, just select the tool either. On the left, you will see two sliders – one for size and the other for opposefully. Adjust the settings for opacity and start drawing with pencils or brushes. You will see how the strokes become mild and more transparent as you reduce the opinionity.

Microsoft has been on a tear over the years, trying to turn paint into a stronger and advanced image editor. In 2023, the company added support for layers and transparency. In 2024, it unveiled an AI-powered device called Cocreator that can produce images for you.

    Other updates

Beyond spraying the paint, Microsoft has also increased a couple of other apps courtesing the latest Windows 11 Insider Build.

The snipping tool now lets you mark and edit your screenshot before saving you. And the notepad now supports the AI-mangoing skills such as summarizing, writing and re-writing, and any copilot subscription is necessary to re-write on PCS.

Too: How to make more like photoshop

If you have Windows 11 Canary or Dev Build and want to check these new tools, make sure you updated both Windows 11 and Paint in the latest versions. Working as expected by these features, Microsoft will probably roll them to all Windows 11 users in the upcoming updates.
