    • It’s available on the Withings website and will be available at other retailers next year.

The latest thermometers are eliminating mercury and replacing it with high-tech sensors. One smart thermometer, Developed by French health technology company Withings, it received FDA approval on Thursday.

Withings BeMo “Thermometer of the Future” not only measures a person’s temperature. It can also perform clinically proven electrocardiogram and auscultation to monitor heart and lung health in less than a minute.

Also: The next step in health tracking is happening in your toilet

“BeMo brings access to key vital signs in everyday life that are typically measured during medical consultations. All this new data on heart, lung and temperature provides an overview of each user’s health status,” Eric Carrell, founder and president of Withings, said in a press release.

When a person measures their temperature with the BeMo, sensors within the device record their heart’s electrical activity, measure infrared light for body temperature, and capture acoustic waves to interpret heart and lung activity. This data is translated into the app and interpreted by AI to detect variations from a person’s baseline.

Also: This new Withings smartwatch can tell you when you’re getting sick

The thermometer is one of many devices in the Withings ecosystem that connects to Withings HealthLink. This integrated feature in the Withings app creates links to health data and reports that people can send to a physician for review.

Earlier this year, Withings unveiled Cardio Check-Up, a feature available through the paid Withings+ membership tier that provides access to a board-certified cardiologist to review a heart health assessment in less than 24 hours.

“Although BMO does not make a diagnosis, recording lung sounds and temperature over time, especially during the winter season when viral infections are more prevalent, can help doctors more effectively assess respiratory conditions,” Withings said in the press release.

    where to get bemo

BMO is now available for purchase straight from withings And will be available at other retailers, including Amazon, in 2026. Upon purchase of BIMO, customers will also get one month complimentary subscription to Withings+ and a free cardio check-up appointment.

When a device receives FDA approval, it means that the new medical device has been proven to be “substantially equivalent” to existing devices marketed for the same use, The FDA explains. Companies seeking FDA approval must submit information proving that their device is equivalent to existing devices of the same standard.
