Apple announced the major design and feature updates for all its operating systems in WWDC 2025, and like every year, the company has again created some characteristics that were available through the first third-party app. In the world of apple, it is called “Sherling”.
In the late 90s, Apple launched a search app called Sherlal for MACOS 8 to allow users to find web and files on the local system. Another company called Karelia Software had an existing $ 29 search app called Watson, with a plug-in for better internet search. In 2002, Apple released Sherq 3, with similar features as Watson, forcing Karelia to eventually shut down her app.
Since then, Tech Folk has used the term “sherlocking” when Apple creates a new feature that does the same work as an existing third-party app.
Here are the new features that Sarek has done to various apps in the past:
New Spotlight App on Macos
Sharalak apps: Raycast, Launchbar
Yes, the recast does much more than string the shortcut together, and it also provides a developer platform. But when Apple showed a new spotlight discovery for Mac during the keynote speaker on Monday, you cannot help think about the recast.
When you open the raycast, it shows you apps and commands suggested, which will actually let the new spotlight users for files, apps and shortcuts. The kicker, however, is the “actions” of Apple, which lets you do all kinds of goods such as putting an event on your calendar, creating a GIF, or making a folder, such as Raycast lets you do it.

Spotlight now lets you access items from the menu for any active window. In addition, you can define a small string to perform specific actions – for example, you can set the string “neur” to create a new reminder item. Spotlight is also getting support for Intents APIs so that developers can add action to their own app.
Last year, the Recast expanded Windows and iOS with a suit of AI-operated features.
Flight tracking through live activities
Sharalak apps, Flickering
Flightly, which allows you to track your or your friends flights and manage check-in, first won an Apple Design Award. With iOS 26, Apple is updating the wallet to allow users to look and share the flight situation through live activities.

The maps are also getting you the ability to navigate the airport with information like gates, security, shops, bag claims, food and toilet. Flighty also provides some of these features.
AI model integration with exocode
Sharalak apps, Alex for Xcode
Apple is now chatting the default assistant for the Xcode 26 coding tool, and also allowing developers to hook other AI models using the API key.

It is an assistant called Alex for Xcode to a Y-Combinator-supported app, which allows developers to make web discoveries, fix issues, to run terminal commands, find codbase, use local models, change inline code, and do much.
Record podcast locally
Sharalak apps: Rivaraside
On the iPad, a new local capture feature now allows creators to record videos using any video calling app, and share recording with others.
Rivaraside has helped users to do so for years, and also provides a complete editing suit. It is not clear how useful or powerful apple’s editing tools would be for recording or editing podcast.
Notes for Apple Watch
Sharalak apps, Many apps With a way Efficiency
Apple finally brought the official notes app in Apple Watch with Watchos 26 update.

This update makes many apps easy for users to take notes on Apple Watch.
Call screening
Sharalak apps, Robociler, Truecaller
Apple says that the new call assist of iOS 26 can take calls from unknown numbers, call the name and reason of the caller to call, and show you these details, allowing you to accept or reject the call. You can also type in response to the caller to ask more questions.
Both Robokiller and Truecaller offer this functionality, in addition to other characteristics such as SMS spam protection.
Parcel tracking
Sharalak apps, package tracking Apps
Wallet now, by studying the email sent by traders or distribution services, can also track the order of the order and also using the apple intelligence using Apple Intelligence. This feature shares many apps in the market which lets you track the order using the tracking number.

what lies ahead
Given the history of the construction of Apple in the features made by the third-party apps, which provide a narrow range of functionality, they cannot last long. However, the developers have found that the implementation of some of the characteristics of Apple often makes users know about those abilities, and many prefer to use third-party apps for more customized experience. For example, already sharak apps, Plastic For iPhone Mirroring, and United For web apps on Mac, new versions with more features for special use cases are released.
