Microsoft has finally shown us a large part of the strategy that has been designed to place the windows on the handheld PC, and compete with the threat of steamos. It is a plan with many moving parts, it seems, but yet it looks like the right set of tricks.
I wrote that Microsoft to Steamos Fast a day or two later, in June 2025, Xbox Shoches revealed that the two revealed how Windows would change to suit handheld gamers, and how Microsoft’s approach for gaming hardware can change with it.
Xbox collaborator debuted a new experience for Windows at hand
Windows 11 has been the biggest issue ever with PC Handheld. It was never for use on gaming handheld, and therefore performance, characteristics and interfaces are completely unsuitable for that purpose. Compared to steamos, which is made from ground to walk on a handheld PC, Windows 11 was a bad fit.
Microsoft had indicated in the past that the company was working on the overhaul of Windows 11 to improve it for devices like Asus Rog Ally, but kept those plans close to its chest.
In the showcase we saw a widespread change in Windows 11, which included removing the desktop in favor of an Xbox-style interface. In fact, unnecessary Windows components such as desktops are also not loaded, saving on RAM and processing power. Known (and perhaps unknown) is a long list of changes, but it is enough to say that they bring Windows 11 to suit steamos, but software compatibility without concerns.
Anywhere sports architecture fills intervals
It seems that moving forward, Microsoft will carry forward its “Play Anver” feature in more games. This is definitely for age, but it is a hit-end-miss, especially when it comes to the third-party game. However, there were many titles shown in the presentation anywhere, suggesting that Microsoft wants to do as much as possible for the fact that the handheld in question is not an Xbox.
I mean we are looking at a standard handheld PC with an Xbox button. The same device that you can buy without Xbox branding and run exactly the same software. A native Xbox handheld that can play the Xbox game, can be on the card, but it seems (as according to our friends (as game), This may be delayed indefinitely. I think it can depend on how this initiative comes out. If this is a success, there is very little reason in a native hand.
He said, I hope to look at the same Xbox engineers who brought the Xbox 360 and the original Xbox Emulation, so they do their magic work on the PC for the later console.

Asus Rog Ally X (2024) is a handheld gaming PC designed to take your favorite titles. With AMD Z1 extreme processor and 24GB RAM, you will find that the ROG collaborative X packs a punch in the Electricity Department. It is capable of playing games such as call of duty: Black Oms 6 at more than 100 FPS using recommended settings. The USB4 and USB-C Rog Ally X allows to be converted to desktop via USB dock, making it even more versatile.
Cloud gaming aims to do the rest of the work
Microsoft
As long as it is not possible to play Xbox-Exclusive Games on PC hardware (legally), other parts of Microsoft’s plans revolve around their cloud gaming service. Play the title anywhere between that and the native PC, this “Xbox” handheld can cover the most if the Xbox chain console does not have all the same libraries on the game.
Personally, I am not a fan of cloud gaming, and it is not practical (or available) everywhere in the world, but it is a legitimately valuable feature. Given how well the PlayStation Portal (and unnecessary) has been sold, it is undoubtedly an important part of the overall strategy,
Microsoft’s open hardware strategy is a strength
The entire “This is an Xbox” marketing push is clearly a way to reproduce its original hardware of microsoft, as it has a modest part of a constellation of products and services with the Xbox brand on it. Xbox is not a console, it is now brand.
Since the Xbox console has now been continuously sold for several generations compared to competition, it is a logical move to partner with existing hardware manufacturers. Like Stemos, it seems that the new Windows 11 will result in a consolidated console-like experience in different devices, which is without the cost and risk of developing Bispoke console hardware.
It does not have to stop either on handheld PCs. This new approach will also work on desktop PC. Like the valve’s (possibly returning) steam machines, you can place this gaming-centered version of Windows on a desktop PC connected to the TV in your living room and can be in your mermaid manner.

If the rumor of the valve new steam machine is real, Microsoft should be very worried
Bill Gates may be bang.
Xbox console is not clearly the center of the Xbox Universe
Xbox-branded Rog Handheld and New Windows 11 experiences are not really just about handheld gaming. This is just the tip of the iceberg and, in my opinion, take a first look at a comprehensive strategy to stretch the Xbox on all platforms, and transfer the process of native hardware development to the normal PC hardware location.

Xbox is now the betamax of gaming console
Talk about supporting the wrong horse.
This was Microsoft’s recipe for success when it created DOS for IBM PC and subsequent clones. Unlike her opponent at the time, Apple, which has been a computer hardware company from day one. Rarely a Microsoft Forest has been successful in hardware, and the company’s strength is in software and services.
Right now, Microsoft claims that a next generation of Xbox hardware is still coming, but if this experiment works with ROG Handheld, who says that the next “Xbox” is not just a regular PC with this modified version of Windows?
