Most people feel that the NFC starts on the iPhone and ends with Apple pay – but it is more capable. With a little configuration and some cheap NFC tag, you can unlock the entire power of NFC and make your iPhone work smart.

    Share Wi-Fi details easily

When a friend visits a friend, there is no need to read his 20-toar Wi-Fi password strangely. We are all there, while reading small stickers behind our router, our friends enter details on their phone.

However, iPhones make Wi-Fi credentials uninterrupted to share credentials using NFC and Bluetooth. Here’s how it works: When someone tries to connect to your Wi-Fi network, and you are already connected, a prom will appear on your iPhone whether you want to share the password. Just tap share password, and they have no device – no typing, no QR code, no mistake.

This process is especially easy in a domestic or office with several devices. As long as the two sides are in each other’s contacts and use iOS, the feature works basically. It is one of those small suitability that makes it easy to forget that we need a sticky notes at any time with our Wi-Fi information.

Launch automation and app with a tap

This is where NFC starts feeling like magic. By combining the NFC tag with the shortcut app on your iPhone, you can automate all types of daily routines. It all takes the best iPhone shortcut or one of automation to kick your iPhone near a tag.

Want to pop up the purchase list when you are near the fridge? Stick an NFC tag on the cabinet nearby and combine it with a shortcut that opens your grocery app. Need a tag near your bed to help in the air below? Set it to close the lights, do not disturb, and set your morning alarm at a time.

These tags are cheap on Amazon, and it is surprisingly easy to set them. You simply need to open the shortcut app, create a personal automation and select NFC as a trigger. Then, scan your tag and choose actions you want to perform.

The only limit is that your iPhone needs to be unlocked while scanning the tag, and it is difficult to read the tag placed on metal objects. Otherwise, it is an incredibly efficient way of converting physical places into smart, individual areas.

Certainly, you can also set the routine to activate based on the location. But, if you work from home, it can be a bit difficult because your house and work is technically the same place.

Getting someone’s phone number is nothing worse – whether it is for date or work – and entering it wrong in your phone. Apple released a new feature in iOS 17, which helps reduce that anxiety and uses NFC to help make it possible.

Namonrop is a feature that is relatively unknown to many despite some unfounded privacy when it was first released. But when turned on (it is turned on by default), Namonop lets you easily share with people by bringing your iPhone next to someone else, so that both your contact cards appear onscreen. Then you can choose to share your contacts with another person, which can make it easier to exchange information.

It uses a combination of NFC and technology that automatically identify the aircraft that two iOS devices are next to each other. This is a great way to convert your contact card into a virtual business card.

If you do not have an iPhone with the person you are joining, you can still use a shortcut to create an NFC-based automation that opens a digital contact card link (such as a linkator or vcard hosted on your website), but it includes a little more.

    Setup equipment without entering details

You cannot feel it, but some of your favorite Apple products already use NFC to simplify the setup process.

For example, take airpods. The moment you open a case near your iPhone asks a clever animation to connect to your screen. There is no need to hunt or look for a small coupling button through Bluetooth settings.

NFC is just more than a gimmick! Learn how to use NFC and do a lot of cool items with it.

This entire “tap to connect” experience is powered by NFC, working quietly behind the curtain. The same homepod goes for products such as mini and airtags. Just close your iPhone, and the setup will start automatically, thanks to the integrated NFC trigger.

While iPhones do not support full NFC background scanning like Android, using NFC Apple for seamless pairing shows how powerful technology can be when used correctly.

It is easy to ignore how useful NFC can be when we all wonder how it gives strength to mobile payment. But with a little work, NFC can become a powerful tool on how you manage your smart home and how you connect with others.
