I don’t hide the fact that I’m huge apple airtag fan. These little discs have revolutionized my life, saving me hours of hair-raising frustration when I can’t put something back in its place.
They’ve been a game-changer, the only downside is that it’s not easy to pair a smooth, UFO-like disc with most things that require some kind of holder. Apple moved the ball forward Tags for items like keyringsBut it’s the third-party market that has really stepped up and delivered all kinds of creative and useful AirTag holders.
Also: If you have an AirTag, you’ll need these accessories to maximize its potential
One company that has some great AirTag accessories is Elevation Labs. I first heard about this company when they introduced TimeCapsule 10-Year Battery CaseBut they also have a whole range of completely creative and highly functional tags,
Two tag holders I have been testing recently are Tagvault Keychain Case And TagVault Security Cable TagIf you want a tag completely sealed from the environment then TagVault is the AirTag holder you need,
The tag is made of a durable fiber reinforced composite body and the two halves are held together with four stainless steel fasteners that go into metal threaded inserts in the case.

Fasteners also have one dab of threadlocking compound To prevent them from destroying themselves.
The threadlocking compound on the fasteners is a great touch!

Water, dirt, and other nasties are kept out using a silicone gasket, creating a tiny armored tank for your AirTag that’s still discreet and doesn’t scream, “It’s valuable, that’s why I attached an AirTag to it!”
Assembly is easy, just insert the tag inside the holder, tighten the four screws (no need to fiddle with them) and you’re done. The tag holder is designed to allow as much of the device’s chirp to be transmitted as possible – the manufacturers say the sound is reduced by about a third, and my testing shows that’s about right.
Also: Can you make AirTags last 10 years? it took me a second to do that
But what about those times when you want to make it harder for a bad guy to remove your tag from your luggage? right here tagvault security cable Tag comes.
This tag holder is made of the same fiber-reinforced composite as the TagVault Keychain Case, but it has an open-face design to maximize the intensity of the AirTag’s chirping sound. However, to keep the AirTag safe it’s still IP68 rated as it has a silicone gasket on the back that seals the battery compartment – a neat feature.
However, this tag also includes some neat anti-tampering measures. The cable used to connect it to objects is a strong, polymer-coated, braided stainless steel wire, and the tags are held together using T10 Torx (screwdriver provided). Again, this Torx comes pre-loaded with thread locking compound, which is a nice touch.

Many people won’t mess around with a T10 Torx screwdriver, but if you want to make things more difficult for a potential bad guy (and when it comes time to remove the tag or replace the battery in the AirTag) you can fill the Torx hole with nail polish, superglue, or even epoxy.
This tag is strong and able to resist stretching and twisting, providing a great way to attach a tag to something and ensuring it won’t fall off accidentally or intentionally. there’s one on my giant pelli air 1615 The case weighed over 55 pounds, and I had to lift and pull the case to access the tags – it’s too hard.
ZDNET’s shopping advice
