The next time you are browsing the Google app for a news, you will not have to leave the search to find the information you are watching.

First Viewed by 9to5googleGoogle is testing the AI-created news summary on its discover feed. This feature is not yet available to all, but it is visible on both Android and iOS.

Also: I tried Perplexity comet AI browser, and I like where it is going (but it’s not yet)

In the old way, Links to your Discover feed surfaces link articles google feels that you are interested in. The setup is very straightforward, the article is clearly displayed with the source and has a link to read beyond the headline.

The aim of the new way is to keep you within the Google app, showing the AI-manual summary of the story drawn simultaneously from many sources. While those sources get a small icon above the article, not all sources are shown immediately – some are re -installed for a “+1” or “+2” that you have to tap to see. Even if the summary comes from several sources, only one gets a real link to click the same source. In some examples I saw the feature in action, it was not clear how Google chose that source.

A Google spokesperson said in a statement, “This AI-manual feature will show a brief preview of some trending lifestyle subjects such as entertainment or sports, to help people to join web materials and stay up-to-date.”

It does not come after a long time of the beginning of the facility Discovery of specialtyA similar feature that lets you read summary of trending news articles. Like Google’s feature, a draw of perplexity from many sources (Real curator collect linksWhile the version of Perplexity presented the news a bit better briefly, it makes the sources even more difficult, and in fact prefer a link to the curator on the link of the source.

Perplexity also seemed to use more sources, often cited more than 20 links. Most of the summary in Google Discovery come from about five sources (some) Even use a source,

While I usually do not oppose the characteristics that let us know more efficiently, as a writer it is difficult to get anything bypassed. Really read Someone’s work – especially if it decreases where the information comes from in the first place. Most prominent news sites A noticeable decline was seen In traffic when Google introduced to find AI interviews, some 40%, so you will be surprised whether AI integration will further enhance readers even more. Analysis from New York PostIn the top 50 news domains, 37 saw a decline in traffic from year to year after the launch AI observation.

In addition to traffic concerns, Google’s AI overviews in search are not always reliable, so there is a worry about whether the news summary will be better fare. As Google continues to plug AI to every comprehensible place, however, we will probably continue to see more such features.
