YouTube experience on TV has always felt one later than watching it on the phone or web. But recently with TV becoming More popular than mobile To see YouTube in the US, television experience is finally going to achieve a new form soon – and it’s very good news, until some annoying issues are decided in this process.
Watching almost all my YouTube leads to my TV through Apple TV app. I felt that it makes me a streaming dinosaur, but the 2025 statistics say differently, and that is why youtube has promised to prioritize the big screen this year that it had never had never before.
This week, to tie with the 20th birthday of YouTube, we heard that the short-form video’s house is getting a “upgrade to watch TV” which will roll out “this summer”.
What this means, its accurate details are rare, but a teaser image (above) gives us an idea of what to do with some promised reforms.
These include “easy navigation” (let’s expect a better search experience), as well as some “quality twicex” and a better playback experience. YouTube is also promising “comments, channel information and well -organized access to membership.”
That last point caught my eye, because the recent change for membership in YouTube’s Apple TV app has become a serious pain – and according to Redit threadsI am not alone in feeling like this.
Instead of listing your membership in the alphabet sequence, the TV app (Google TV, Fire TV, and more) on most services now confuses them in order of mysterious “relevance” – even if this is not the case in the mobile app. And it disappoints me almost every time when I see YouTube on the big screen.
A more tv -like experience
Di, there are big complaints about YouTube experience on TV – most especially, a rapid painful advertising experience that makes youtube premium mandatory, unless you enjoy pressing the muted button every few minutes.
But I am hoping that YouTube’s promised navigation reforms include the alphabetic membership list, or a better way to experience them. I used the membership list like an EPG earlier, who quickly helped me detect the latest series (being my latest passion Waste theoryExcellent music essay).
Now, the channels are ordered what Youtube believes the “most relevant”, which is usually different from what I think is relevant – because YouTube (yet) cannot read my brain. This is something that you can change while watching in a browser (go on membership> Manage> then choosing AZ from the drop-down menu), but no longer in many TV apps.
Instead, there are work -round like casting on your TV from your phone, but when I come on YouTube I am a TV native – so I hope that the big redesign which is an N route also restores some functionality that was recently removed in classic Google fashion.
There is a danger that these new features will be with “poses ADS” such as ‘upgrade’, which is something YouTube is doing something that is testing with his fingers simultaneously like Mr. Burns. Another feature that has been promised is a “second screen experience that uses your phone to interact with the video you’re watching on TV”.
I am realistic – Google and YouTube rarely give us new features, without finding ways to print more advertising money together One billion hours We spend every day watching YouTube content on TV (yes, really). But as long as the TV experience finally feels as polish and user friendly as a mobile app, I will continue to spend more time on YouTube than the best streaming services.
