Astro A50 General 5 Review: One-minute review
The Astro sub-brand of Loditech has a large-scale dynasty, which now offers competition-grade audio solutions for years, and A50 GEN 5 is capable of maintaining the situation easily at a lower price point compared to Astro A50 X, which we tested last year.
Most of the Astro A50 GEN 5 is built on the same impressive foundation. This graphene is packing drivers, which not only seems great, but also rarely contributes to weight, while the entire design feels well manufactured without feeling uncomfortable for use at any time.
The audio seems excellent, with a broad soundstage, which packs a lot of bass without deformation and a lot of high-end without tinnas, and I used it to hear my music, using it almost as much as I did for gaming.
Dolby Atmos and Windows Sonic are included, as well as the option to pipe in Bluetooth audio from an external source – it is ideal for anyone to crank podcast or playlist grinding in your favorite game.
This flexibility is a common theme with A50 GEN 5, as it can be associated with many platforms. While its pricier ‘X’ branded cybbing can switch HDMI input with a button press, A50 can do the same for Gen 5 audio.
The same mike from A50 x is here, also, the crystal is clear in the competitive moments with pressure (or as competitive you can get within my own skill level) and if you prefer to use the headset as a pair of very good headphones, it is easy to bend.
Add that magnificent 24 -hour battery life, as well as with the facility of being able to relax the headset at the docking station, so it is always ready to go and you have found a compelling package – and it is before touching Loditech’s G hub software, which has custom Equisers and Bluest Vioce Adjustments.
It is still not inexpensive at all, but if you are looking for a headset that can work in all platforms, it can be cheaper than buying a dedicated one for each.
Astro A50 General 5 Review: Price and Availability
- List Price: $ 299.99 / £ 299.99
- About £ 70/$ 80 cheaper than Astro A50 X
- Available worldwide
For $ 300 / £ 300, you get a solid package here. In addition to the magnificent headset, that base station is actually Nifty.
It is well built, providing a really easy way to keep its headset charge, while the A50 General 5 is difficult to find a mistake with the construction quality of the 5 headset.
It is more premium than the mid-range headset that bends on plastic shells, and similarly the price of stalsies Arctis Nova Pro.
This opponent certainly feels more like a headphone in its design, but provides the same versatility with multi-platform and dual-source output. If you want something that looks slightly less like gaming peripheral, it may be a way to go.

Astro A50 General 5 Review: Design and Features
- Lightweight headset with fold-down mike
- Graphine drivers are light but provide large sound
- Fabric Year Cups are comfortable and avoid sweating manufacture
Next to the Pricier A50 X, you will work hard to present differences, although the red cable on the black cables vs General 5S on A50 X is a cheap way.
The A50 General 5 comes in black or white, with magnetic cushions that can be removed and swaps if you feel that they are reaching the end of their life (although even more than a year of the premium version, it has never felt so for me).
The mike is the same, also, at the bottom of the mouth level, while the side panel on the other side has all inputs. There is chat and audio mixing on the headset itself, as well as Bluetooth functionality to pipe your music.
It is comfortable to be lighter than the old Loditech Pro X headset for a long time, which I have used in the past, while ear cups never feel that they become too hot. In fact, I prefer them for options such as cooling, more leather (although you can buy a lender conversion kit from Loditech).
At the docking station, then, and while there is no HDMI connectivity on the back, there are four USB ports. One is reserved for power, so enthusiasts of mathematics will recognize that there are three ports left.
The ports are labeled for PC, PS5 and Xbox, which means the switch is absent, but you can plug it into any of them.
You may need to provide your own USB-C cable, although the Lozitech only provides a single cable to connect another console for power.
Astro A50 General 5 Review: Performance
- 24-hour battery Life Plus Docking Station Facilitation Couple
- 24-bit PC audio, 16-bit on console but you are unlikely to hear the difference
- Join the docking station via USB-C, but no HDMI port
Astro General 5, for my relatively trained ears as a musician, looks similar to its premium brother -in -law.
At the footsteps with enemies Call of Duty: Warzone And Black Oms 6 Crackura and easy in place, while the direction of the pills is also clear with a small burst.
Overwatch Hero callouts sound crisp, while more cinematic titles Killing Feel especially impressive, especially when the rain is falling on the roofs.
It is worth noting that there is no active noise canceled (ANC), but despite having relatively large heads, I felt that the seal around my ears was quite tight where it never felt like a big concern. Your mileage may be different, though.
Perhaps most effectively, A50 Gen 5s are also fantastic for non-gaming audio. If you want to kick back with music, then add everything good and fresh to feel balanced soundstage with comfortable headset.
I found that listening to rock epics was a great experience, in which the piano and collision dancing around each other dancing, while there are lots of bass for the situation, but without distortion you can get from cheap headsets.
You can play with a mixer in the Loditech G app, while the above earcup control chats and game are ideal for adjusting audio.
Nevertheless, the audio output coin has only one-half, and when I have treated the mix to bend the mix in favor of a desktop option with old setups, the mike here is clear at all times.
The Loditech G app on PC can tap in the company’s blue mike filtering to adjust you as a whistle, but even outside the box, it seems as if you can stand right next to a teammate because you work on strategies.

How did I test Astro A50 gene 5
- Tested in several weeks
- RTX 4070 TI, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X are used on a gaming PC
- In many sports, party chat Mike is used to test Mike, as well as discords on PC
I spent my time using the Astro A50 gene 5 in PC and console, switching between call of duty warzone and Black Ops 6, the title of Indy Multiplayer, the headliners, and the EA FC 25.
To test the MIC, I played Overwatch 2, Marvel rivals and some warm games of Destiny 2 to ensure that the Coms were clear.
