Dyson is trying to decide between gen5detect and gen5outsize? In this article, I will run properly how two machines help you decide which one is right for you.
At the time of writing, the Gen5 is the newest and the best dyson vacuum based on glasses. You can read all about it deeply in our Dyson Gen5Detect Cordless Vacuum Review. Gen5Outsize is essentially the same vacuum with the same features, but has been scored to make it more suitable for large homes. It is available in specific areas including the US and Australia, but not the UK. Dyson has offered ‘external’ versions of other stick vacuums in the past.
I will join the exact differences below, but the small version is that the gene 5outsize has a large dust cup and a broad main floorhead. Some listings advertise runtimes for a long time, but it is slightly misleading because it is based on swapping in another battery pack (which is also possible with Gen5Detect).
If you have a wide expansion of the floor to clean, you will be able to do it more quickly and choose to empty your bin without stopping. However, scales of things means to add weight and bulk, so you have to consider whether it is worth it.
This is a small version; Gen5detect vs gen5outsize to read to see a closer look.
Dyson gen5detect vs gen5outsize: Price and availability
- $ 100 / AU $ 100 Cost on List Price
- Gen5detect is available worldwide, external is more limited
- Both premium vacuum cleaner
Dyson Gen5detect is widely sold worldwide, while gen5outsize is more limited in availability (possibly for places that are in large homes). It is currently available in the US and Australia, but not in the UK.
Dyson head for US and you can lift gen5outsize absolute with a list value $ 1,049.99Or absolute for gen5detect $ 949.99In Australia, it is absolute for the Gen5detect AU $ 1,549 Or gen5outsize for AU $ 1,649Both models can also be found on various third-party retailers.
Surprisingly, what does ‘absolute’ mean? Honestly, I am not sure. The ‘absolute’ models are often available only directly from the dyson, and sometimes it indicates that an additional floor is included (not the case here always; there are two), a more advanced level of filtration (again, does not seem to be the case here, both; both have hepa), or just a different colorway. If you can see the difference, please tell me in the comment section.

Dyson gen5detect vs gen5outsize: design
- The exterior is heavy and a very big dust cup
- Outsize has more cylinder and slightly less suction power
- The exterior comes with an additional-church main floor
Unexpectedly, external is both overall and heavy. The weight difference is 14oz / 400g – roughly a tin of tomatoes. It may not seem too much, but I imagine that when you are holding it it quickly becomes noticeable, and especially if you need to do high cleaning. The Gen5detect is already one of the most heavier wireless vacuum on the market.
In the context of dimensions, the exterior is only a short tall (which makes sense, because the big house = do not do long residents). The main difference is in the width of the main cleaner head and the shape of the dust cup.

The dust cup on the Gen5detect can be up to 0.2 gallons / 0.8 liters, while the gen5outsize ‘0.5 gallons / 1.9 liters can be caught. It is a 150% big bin. The exterior’s capacity is close to the bin size that you will expect on an honest vacuum.
Scaling up also means that the main mechanics of the vacuum is slightly different. Gen5outsize has 18 cyclones compared to 14 on the Gen5detect. The maximum suction is slightly lower at large vacuum: 250AW vs. 280AW on regular gen5detect. It is still a more respectable amount of power, although-these dyson range are two sucking cordless vacuits (the address of the Dyson V15, which is the second best stick vacuum by glasses, offers electricity from 240).

Both spaces come with two floors. The main is a digital motorbar cleaner head, and the version supplied with gen5outsize is 25% larger than the regular gen5detect. Both versions can be used on any floor type, and it contains hair detelling features.

You will also get an alcoholic optic floorhead for use on hard floors. It has not been scaled for the exterior; This is exactly the same on both.
There are various detail tools to round out the package. These can vary on the basis of the country, in the country in which you live and the bundle you choose, but expect a hair screw tool for furniture, a combi tool for normal dusting of street and cranes, and a crack equipment for coming in small intervals. Both versions of this vacuum have a supplementary crack equipment hidden in the main stick.

Some listing for gen5outsize promises up to a 140 -minute battery life, but it is based on ‘frequent use of two battery packs’ (in this case, an additional battery will be almost certainly bundled). The battery itself has the same ability to the Gen5detect, and can manage cleaning for 70 minutes on a charge in eco mode. If you have an extra, you can heat the battery on the gen5detect.
Dyson gen5detect vs gen5outsize: features
- The same special features on both vacancies
- Automatic Suction adjustment and real -time dust report
- Drunken Floorhead with laser to illuminate hidden dirt
Special features are the same in both vacancies. With both, you will get automatic suction adjustment based on how dirty the floor is. This feature is powered by a sensor inside the floor which is being sucked at any time. This will report back this information, through a colorful graph on the screen of the vacuum, in real time when you clean.

The fluffy optic cleaner head is equipped with a vivid green laser that is properly angled to make a big shade on whatever is on your floor. This means that the most young species of dust also appear and become available for sucking.
