Soft robot weapons use soft materials and structures to mimic passive compliance of biological weapons that bends and expand. Here, we show that relying on pattern structures instead of the underlying physical properties allows soft robot weapons to comply with continuous torque in their environment. We demonstrate a soft robotic arm made of a pair of mechanical metamatorials that act as constant constant-veg joints.

Designed with the same dimensions of an adult human, it combines human-equivalent access and dexterity with force production that exceeds human physical abilities, enables it to perform extremely heavy duty tasks in a dangerous environment.

This is the performance of in-hand object rotation with Torobo hand. Torobo hands are modeling in simulation, and a control policy is trained within several hours using learning large -scale parallel reinforcement in Isaac SIM. The trained policy can be executed without any additional training on a separate simulator (Mujoko) and real Torobo hand.
