I write about the vacuum cleaner for a living, and the performance varies, these days most new models look roughly the same.
So when the news of a new addition to Dyson Vacuum Lineup came to my inbox, I expected to see something similar to its existing models: sleek and high-quality, but not particularly specific or stunning.
How wrong i was
The newly unveiled Dyson Pennsilvec is not just an unusual name, it is one of the most unique vacuums I viewed. This brand knows what it is doing in this marketplace – it creates some of the best cordless vacuum you purchased, and today’s best dyson vacuum includes features that you still cannot find anywhere else.
So when the pencilvac vacuum cleaner works for a long way from the formulas worked and tested, I am very optimistic about its performance. Here is a part of the most complicated features in this new launch …
1. It is ridiculously diluted
The immediate thing to note about pencilvac is that it is incredibly well -organized. Without a floorhead, the whole thing is 1.5 inches / 3.8 cm in diameter. To make this possible, the brand had to develop a small new motor – the Dyson Hyperdimium 140K motor is just 1.1 inch / 2.8 cm wide, and is completely hidden within the handle.
The pencilwack is also impressively light, which does clocking at 4LBS / 1.8kg. For reference, right now our best cordless vacuum roundup is 5.7LBS / 2.6kg, and there are many models that weigh more than 6.6LBS / 3kg.
Generally, when you shrink a vacuum, you sacrifice power. This is why handheld vacuums are much less ‘useless’ compared to full -sized options. This is perfect for pencilwack-there is 55AW of suction, compared to 115AW for V8 (the oldest dyson stick vacuum in the current range) and the latest-and a huge 280AW for the late-and-big-big gene 5DETECT. However, while it is unlikely to be suitable for really deep clean, it is still a good amount of suction for size and weight.
As a side note, 1.5-inch / 3.8 cm diameter is not casual. James Dyson, the founder of the brand, says, “I want to create a vacuum in the form of only 38 mm diameter (my latest hair dryer, The Supersonic R)”. Dyson is supersonic R pipe -shaped dryer that was originally released for professionals, but recently joined the main consumer range.
2. Rollers are cones instead of rollers
Going down at the end of the business, and you will get the new ‘Fulorheads’ fluorhead. It looks like a Pokémon, but it is actually a cleaner head. Vacancies traditionally have a brush roll, maximum two, and they are tube -shaped. Dyson Pennsilwac has four brushers, and they are all conical.
The tapping size is argued: it helps the long hair with rolls and in a cup of dust, while the hair with parallel rollers simply wrapped around and live there, until your rip does it off or attacks with scissors. Dyson’s hair screw tool also has a conical brush roll, and works exactly when it comes to deal with long hair.
The cone projects on the sides so that they can clean the edges of the rooms correctly, and the whole thing can be flat on the ground, with a withdrawal of only 9.5 cm / 3.75 inch from the floor.
I am interested in the description of Dyson’s rollers as ‘drunkard’, because in the brand terminology which usually indicates a soft roller for use only on the hard floor. In fact, the more I see this vacuum, the more I am sure that it is an expert model that is just for use on the hard floor. This is not specified in the press content I yet, but it makes sense with the ability of low suction and small dust.
3. No visible dust cup
One of the most surprising things about pencilvac is that it does not appear a dust cup. Of course, one is – like a motor, it is hidden inside the handle.
The capacity is not the next: Just 0.08L. However, Dyson has introduced a dust compression system, which uses air To drop the particles down so that they take as low room as possible. Dyson claims that this means that it can be five times the physical volume.
The evacuation process has also been re-designed, with an exciting-taller “syringe, a push-lever system replaced by the no-touch bin ejection mechanism”.
As it pushes out the dust and debris, the mechanism simultaneously erases the ‘shroud’. I am not completely clear what ‘shroud’ is in this context, but I know that keeping the internal mechanism clean is important for efficient vacuum performance, so it sounds like a good thing.
4. Floorhead shines and appears to float
As you clean, cleaning the hair, there is another trick on their sleeves in the cone of the floor. The cone rotates in the opposite directions, its aim is that this vacuum is cleared even when it is pulled back. It is a bit like a weak place on the regular fluffy floor – there is no problem sucking things when it proceeds, but pull it back and the debris will pool it behind it.
I am ready to see how this new approach works in practice – especially because Dyson describes it as “floating” across the floor. I am surprised that, if it can make this vacuum completely reversible, looking at the fact that the handle section looks very symmetrical.
Dyson also added “laser-like” lights in both front and back of the floor. This is another feature that is borrowed from the former flophy floorhead, and helps to create a large shade on the most small bits of dust, which may have otherwise missed. It only works on the hard floor, which is another sign that it is not for empty carpets.
The strange interval is a complicated addition to the tool lineup as the ‘rotating Combi-Cravis Tool’ designed for cleaning. It seems that it is especially ready to clean the high-up, where it can be difficult to correct your angles. It makes a special understanding for an ultra-light vacuum, which is easier to lift your head over your average stick vacuum.
As on one side, it seems that the pencilvac button is- instead of trigger. It is fixed by a streamlined shape, but it is also very good news for dynamics and easy to use – the fact that many dyson wacks still use a trigger to turn on, I have a permanent bugbier.
To deal with long hair on furniture, you will also find a conical hair screw tool similar to one with the latest dyson stick vacuum. Both can be stored on magnetic charging dock.
6. It is app-connected
I am very excited about this feature, but it seems that I should indicate that this is the first Dyson Cordless vacuum to connect to the Mydyson app. The app will provide more information about battery life and also report on the filter situation. However, there is also a screen on the vacuum that shows the remaining battery, so I hope that the app connection is an alternative addition rather than an essential.
Price and availability
With the launch for August 2025, Pennsilvac will first arrive in Australia. This is due to going to the UK for some time in 2026, and I am waiting for information whether it will come to the US. So far I have no pricing information – I will update this article with more information when I have.
